Ben West, has been an environmental, political and social activist in the Lower Mainland for almost 15 years, dating back to his work with the Capilano Students Union. A former Organizer and eventually provincial Deputy Leader for the Green Party, he has also worked to support electoral cooperation across party lines. Ben served as Healthy Communities Campaigner at the Wilderness Committee for five years, organizing campaigns on transportation, zero waste and climate change. For the past two years he has been a leading voice against Enbridge and Kinder Morgan’s tankers and oil pipelines proposals, acting as the Tar Sands Campaign Director with ForestEthics Advocacy.
He is now the executive director of Tanker Free BC, Stuart Richardson interviews Ben on a number of pressing topics including the recent failed transit referendum, Fracking , our recent raging forest fires and the expansion of the Kinder Morgan pipeline which would increase tanker traffic on our coast.
He also touches on a better model of community development.
