Dr Aviva Chomsky on her book They Take Our Jobs and 20 Other Myths about Immigration

Dr Aviva Chomsky is a professor and the coordinator of Latin American Studies at Salem State College. She has previously been a professor at Bates College and a faculty research associate at Harvard University, specializing in the history of Latin America and the Caribbean. The eldest daughter of linguist and political activist Noam Chomsky, she has a longstanding interest in Latin American cultures and histories which she traces to the year she spent working for the United Farm Workers union in 1976-77. Her six books and many articles explore, among other questions, the history of immigration, labor, globalization, and social mobilization in Latin America and in the United States.

There is a growing understanding of the importance of a “whole of government” approach and an inclusive “whole of society” perspective on the world. To that, Dr. Wayne Roberts add a “whole of economy,” a “whole of food” and a “whole of policy” as well as a “whole of human personality” perspective. All together, they become a whole new way of thinking about the role of food in the city.

Ellen Hodgson Brown is an American author, attorney, public speaker, and advocate of alternative medicine and financial reform, most prominently public banking. Brown is the founder and president of the Public Banking Institute, a nonpartisan think tank devoted to the creation of publicly run banks.

Venezuelan Civic Military Union

The United States’ history of invasions in Latin America is well documented. Over 100 invasions in the last century. The economic violence of: odious debts, economic sanctions, blockades to isolate Venezuela (and any country in their target) from other sources of commerce, including preventing access to food, fuel, and friendship.

The tactic of starvation is intended to punish the population of Venezuela, the aggression is intended to provoke an implosion, and turn people against their elected leader President Maduro who was elected on May 20 2019 by an undisputable majority. Host Sylvia Richardson speaks to Sociologist Dr. Maria Paez about the savage economic war, the death toll of economic sanctions causing the death of 40000 people. The violations of the UN charter, the Geneva convention, and trade laws that have created a dangerous precedent for democratic rule. Despite ongoing aggression Venezuelans continue to defend their right to autonomy and their right to choose their own government.
